He and Veronica are more take-out people: a pizza in front of the TV, or Chinese while they talked about whatever case she happens to be working on. These days, he's trying to give her space when it comes to her work, but it's part of her life, so it's not like wants to ignore it. It's a compromise.
Still, while Logan enjoys those nights, tonight was a good change: the two of them actually going out for dinner. Especially since he knows that he's actually going to have money coming in soon and something like this doesn't have the potential to bankrupt him anymore. He's been working up to telling Veronica about it— that is, in part, what tonight is about— but dinner comes and goes and he still hasn't said anything about it. He knows she'll get it, why he's decided on the fire department, but there's still something that's held him back from saying something all night.
They pull up to Ocean View and Logan puts the car in park.
"Home sweet home," he says, "Don't forget to tip your driver."
